Emily is a Korean American filmmaker born in Busan, South Korea.
She immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 8, and is based in Orange County, California.
She is a 2019 graduate of NYU Tisch with a major in Film & Television.
Her films often explore themes of longing and familial ties. Her short film, Your Shade of Blue,
largely inspired by her own separation from her aunt, received the Audience Choice Award and
Best Actress Award at the 2022 Chain NYC Film Festival. She has also edited narrative shorts, including Perennial, which premiered at Outfest 2022. Her latest role as an editor is on Silver Needle, selected to screen at the Palm Springs Shortfest 2025.
She has assistant edited on numerous doc features and series, including Lee Soo Man: King of K-pop, and The Rose: Come Back To Me that held its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.
Offscreen, Emily enjoys running, yoga, gardening… and teaching her cat Marbles tricks.
